At Victory Christian Center
We Exist:
to Love God, to Love Our Neighbor and to Share the Good News.
(Matthew 22:37-40 and Matthew 28:19-20 Mark 16)
1. LOVING GOD
Our love for God is demonstrated through Worship and Obedience.
♦ Worship - the Church Exists to Worship
God (Deuteronomy 6:13; 10:20, Matthew 22:37, Mark 12:30, Luke 10:27)
- We are called to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24
- enthusiastically and honestly) with all our heart soul mind and strength (Matthew
4:10) in all aspects of our lives, both as individuals and as a corporate body of
believers.
- We strive for integrity in our private lives and in our public worship (Romans
12:1)
- Our corporate worship is informal and enthusiastic and embraces a variety of
stylings ranging from contemporary to traditional and from southern gospel to soul.
- We purpose to be current and fresh in our music without abandoning the richness
of our heritage.
- We also strive to be sensitive to, open to and responsive to the Holy Spirit’s
leading and
- We covet the orderly operation of the gifts of the Spirit in our services.
♦ Obedience - willfully choosing to
walk in obedience to His word (John 14:15, 15:10)
- We believe the bible to be the inspired word of God and as such is our all-sufficient
rule for faith and practice. It is our guide to every aspect of our lives.
- Our obedience to His word is an active response to His love, His grace
and His mercy.
2. LOVING OUR NEIGHBOR
Our love for our Neighbor is demonstrated through "Caring and Sharing" with those
whom God brings across our path.
♦ Caring (1John 4:20,
4:7-8) Caring is an attitude of the heart.
- We seek to develop a godly attitude of care and concern towards
those whom God brings into our lives.
- This caring attitude is the primary force behind the development of one of our
essential characteristics and focuses here at Victory. We are passionate and intentional
about reaching out to those from all walks of life who have been disenfranchised
from church.
- Victory provides both an atmosphere and a path conducive to restoration. We
are a place and an opportunity for people to become fully functioning active participants
in the service of our Lord as they move from "Seeker to Server."
♦ Sharing (James 1:27, Matthew 25:35-36)
This is the practical application of much of the "Work of the ministry" and where
as "Caring" is an attitude "Sharing" is an action
- We desire to demonstrate our "caring" by providing a friendly accepting atmosphere
which highlights the value each and every person.
- Our helping hands food pantry, our bread distribution, our counseling services,
our home groups, our benevolence ministries, the use of our facilities for community
outreach and services such as the Mother Tot program, the Adult education and literacy
classes, our G.E.D. preparation classes and our Spanish services are all designed
to provide platforms from which this attitude of "caring" can be demonstrated.
- We believe that Christian Maturity is demonstrated through a life of service
and we seek to provide meaningful opportunities for service for each individual
in our congregation.
3. SHARE THE GOOD NEWS
God has called us into the "redemption business" and sharing the good news is
a critical component in everything that we do. Here at Victory sharing this Good
News occurs through two avenues Evangelism and Discipleship.
(Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:47-49, John 20:21, Acts 1:8)
♦ Evangelism
- The good news of the gospel is the answer to each individual’s eternal
needs and we are passionately committed to sharing this good news with those who
need to hear it.
- Our Primary approach to sharing this good news (evangelism) would be considered
purposeful, relational or friendship focused. Purposefully building Redemptive relationships
and living in such a way, that we are ready to give an answer for the hope that
we have.
- It is also our passion to teach, to train, to provide opportunity, and to encourage
the active involvement in spreading the gospel. This involves Personal evangelism
Personal missions work and Personal prayer and financial support of those who take
this good news beyond our borders
♦ Discipleship
- This is the process of teaching and training people to do the work of the ministry.
- This is accomplished here at Victory through such avenues as our "Victory Education,"
our Victory 101 and Victory 201 classes, our leadership training courses, training
seminars and courses and our Wednesday and Sunday services and messages
Our Bottom Line at Victory
It is our determination that:
every program we offer, every service we conduct, every activity we’re involved
in
embraces and reflects our commitment to fulfil our purpose as a church
that of - Loving God, Loving our Neighbor, and Sharing the Good News.
In brief
WE ARE A COMMUNITY CHURCH WITH PURPOSE AND PASSION.
We exists for no other PURPOSE than to
Love Our Lord, Love Our Neighbor and Share the Good News.
Our PASSION is to lead the lost to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ
and to restore the brokenhearted, bruised and disenfranchised
back into active fellowship with God, His people, His church and His service.
